Yoh Reveals Winners of 2012 UK Agile Awards

PHILADELPHIA—Oct. 26, 2012—Yesterday evening, Yoh announced the winners of the 2012 U.K. Agile Awards at the Agile Award dinner held at The Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The Agile Awards recognise the people, projects, and innovations that contribute to the adoption and successful application of agile development methodology in the U.K. Agile development radically changes the approach used on technology projects by placing the customer and collaboration centric, enabling rapid iterations and the ability to quickly and effectively address change.

Recipients of this year’s U.K. Agile Awards are:

  • Most Valuable Agile Innovation of 2012: The 10 Second Build (Daniel Worthington-Bodart)
  • Best Agile Newcomer: Emma Hopkinson-Spark
  • Best Use of Agile in the Public Sector: Goose Team at Ordnance Survey
  • Best Use of Agile in the Private Sector: Redgate Software (Mark Wightman)
  • Best Agile Team: Telefonica UK (Equal Experts)
  • Best Agile Coach/Mentor: John Wright (Indigo Blue)
  • The Agile Special Recognition Award: Dave Putman
  • Most Valuable Agile Player: Shaun Smith

“Each of this year’s award winners have worked tirelessly to champion the adoption and successful application of agile development methodologies in these challenging times,” said Alex Mauree, Managing Director of Yoh, the Agile Awards’ main sponsor. “We received many worthy nominations and the competition was formidable. However, the judges decided this select group of winners truly embodied what it is to be agile and demonstrated the benefits of placing customer needs at the center of technology projects. Agile methodology is optimised when people, business, and technology are aligned to act as one.”

Award winners were nominated by the agile community in the United Kingdom between April 1, 2012 and May 31, 2012 based on their extraordinary contributions to agile development. An established peer review board assessed the scope, impact, and potential of each project submitted for consideration. The evaluation included an assessment of how well developers and practitioners embraced the agile approach—which increases team interaction and empowers individual team members to contribute their knowledge and expertise in a way that advances the accuracy of delivery estimates and ensures a high degree of quality.

Entries also were evaluated for how closely accepted agile practices were followed and the degree to which the nominee led efforts to increase successful adoption of agile methodologies and overcome adoption challenges to ensure successful project completion.
