Training Complex, Asymmetric Warfare Group, Ft. A.P. Hill, VA

Mason & Hanger, A Day & Zimmermann Company, performed architectural and engineering services for this new 426-acre campus built to test new Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to meet the asymmetric threat that soldiers find on the battlefield. The 13-building Range Support/Cantonment area provides administrative, training, housing, and maintenance facilities. The 22-building Military Operations Urban Terrain (MOUT)/Battle Lab provides mock training with structures such as an embassy building, hospital, school, hotel/apartment, church, mosque, subway and transit station.

This project received the 2015 ACEC National Engineering Excellence Award and 2014 ENR Mid-Atlantic Best Project, Government/Public Buildings.
