Day & Zimmermann CFO Named to Board of Directors for Special Olympics of New Jersey

PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 17, 2014 – Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), the century-old, family-owned provider of construction & engineering, staffing and defense solutions for leading corporations and governments around the world, announced today that CFO Joe Ritzel has been named to the Board of Directors for the Special Olympics of New Jersey (SONJ).

“I am truly honored to be named to the Board of Directors of this incredible organization,” said Ritzel, a Marlton, New Jersey resident. “My son has participated in their events for a number of years, and I have seen firsthand the positive impact that the Special Olympics can have on those with special needs and their families. I look forward to doing everything I can to advance the organization’s mission and provide individuals with the opportunity to experience the thrill of competition and athletics.”

The Special Olympics of New Jersey’s mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Earlier this year, Day & Zimmermann sponsored the Special Olympics New Jersey Volleyball Teams in the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games, in Mercer County, New Jersey. The event featured 3,500 athletes competing in 16 Olympic-style team and individual sports, including everything from aquatics to gymnastics to volleyball. Approximately 1,000 coaches, 10,000 volunteers and 70,000 family, friends and other spectators took part in the festivities.
