Honoring Service Through Action: Supporting Those Who Serve, Every Day

Service to our country is not an abstract idea, it’s a choice. It’s a commitment to step forward, often into uncertainty, in defense of something greater than yourself.

During National Military Appreciation Month, we pause to recognize those who have made that choice. For me, that recognition is deeply personal. I grew up in a family rooted in military service. My grandfather served in the Navy, and my father served in the Army. From an early age, I understood that choosing to serve is one of the clearest expressions of patriotism. That perspective has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to shape how I view the work we do every day.

At Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), that same sense of purpose is embedded in who we are.

What It Means to Be a Patriotic Company

Being a patriotic company is not about words, it’s about delivering when it matters most.

Our connection to the national security mission is vital to who we are as an organization. The U.S. military plays a critical role in defending our freedoms and preserving our way of life. Supporting that mission is not only important, it’s a privilege. Across our D&Z Government Services division, including Mason & Hanger and SOC, our teams work behind the scenes to enable that mission in ways that are not always visible, but are always essential.

From protective security services and advanced security technologies, to architecture and engineering solutions that enhance the resilience and sustainability of military infrastructure, our work helps create safe and secure environments where critical operations can succeed.

We are also contributing to the future of national security through innovations supporting emerging energy solutions, advancing infrastructure for data and technology, and exploring new ways to improve efficiency and responsiveness through artificial intelligence.

Patriotism in Action: Investing in the Warfighter

Our commitment to supporting the military is not just conceptual, it’s tangible.

Recently, D&Z celebrated a major expansion of our munitions production capabilities at our Parsons, Kansas facility in partnership with the U.S. Army. This multi-year investment strengthens domestic manufacturing capacity and directly supports the readiness of the warfighter.

Moments like this are powerful reminders that patriotism is demonstrated through action. By modernizing infrastructure, increasing production capacity, and investing in long-term capabilities, we are helping ensure that those who serve have the resources they need—when they need them.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do – and many of them are Veterans.

Veterans bring a unique combination of discipline, leadership, and resilience to our organization. They are trained to perform under pressure, adapt to challenging environments, and lead with accountability. These qualities strengthen our teams and enhance our ability to deliver on complex, mission-critical work. That perspective helps us create a workplace where veterans can continue to grow, lead, and contribute in meaningful ways.

During Military Appreciation Month, I want to take a moment to thank our employees, especially those who have served. The work you do matters, and it makes a difference.
