Proven Construction Experience in Power and Energy

When you are planning and delivering a utility-scale energy storage project, you need a construction partner who understands the risks, regulatory complexity, and integration challenges involved. Whether you are connecting to the grid, pairing with generation assets, or navigating tight timelines, you need assurance that your project will be executed safely and reliably.

As a long-standing partner to many of North America’s leading utilities, Day & Zimmermann executes major projects across nuclear, fossil, hydro, and renewable generation. This depth of experience informs our approach to energy storage construction, where safety, schedule, and system integration are critical.

Our in-house capabilities include electrical and civil construction, grid interconnection, medium and high-voltage systems, thermal protection, and balance-of-system delivery. We are well-versed in meeting interconnection and compliance requirements under ISO, NERC, and local utility standards.

A Culture Built on Safety

A Culture Built on Safety

Safety is Day & Zimmermann’s number one core value. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of health and safety across all project sites, because we believe that nothing —  not schedule, cost, or performance — is more important than the well-being of our people and partners.

D&Z’s safety commitment is backed by more than a century of delivering complex projects with a safety-first culture. For energy storage construction, we integrate safety planning at every stage of design, execution, and commissioning. Our work is guided by strong relationships with labor and client safety teams to ensure shared accountability and safe project delivery.

IRA-Ready Construction with Compliance Confidence

Maximizing the value of your energy storage project often depends on meeting the specific requirements tied to federal incentives. To fully realize tax credit benefits under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), project teams must align construction execution with key compliance milestones, including prevailing wage, apprenticeship utilization, and domestic content sourcing.
Day & Zimmermann helps clients navigate these requirements with a structured approach to project delivery. We sequence procurement and construction activities to support Investment Tax Credit (ITC) eligibility, and integrate compliance tracking into our execution model. Our EPC framework provides transparency, accountability, and alignment from planning through commissioning, helping you unlock available incentives while staying focused on schedule, safety, and quality.

“We continue to make large investments in solar and renewables not just because it is the right thing to do, but because our customers in power generation and government are committed to a more sustainable future. It is part of how we support our partners and earn their business every day.”

– JASON DUNAWAY, PRESIDENT DZMC
