Kansas – April 8, 2026 – Day & Zimmermann, in partnership with the U.S. Army, today celebrated the completion of a major expansion of munitions production capabilities at its Parsons, Kansas facility with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony.
This milestone represents a multi-year, multi-million-dollar private investment by Day & Zimmermann to design, modernize, and bring new production capacity online in support of the nation’s defense. The investment enhances domestic manufacturing capacity supporting critical Army munitions programs and strengthens the U.S. defense industrial base at a time of sustained global demand. The project includes significant modernization of production infrastructure, expanded operational capacity, advanced automation upgrades, and long-term workforce growth in the region.
At the center of the expansion is the completed 155mm M795 load-assemble-pack (LAP) production line, now fully operational at the Parsons facility. The development and activation of this new line is the result of several years of sustained capital investment and execution. The new line operates alongside the plant’s existing production lines for 60mm and 81mm mortar systems, significantly increasing output for the U.S. Army and adding additional domestic depth to the M795 artillery projectile program. The Kansas capability complements Day & Zimmermann’s long-running operations at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant (IAAAP), reinforcing the Army’s industrial base for large-caliber artillery production.
“Our investment in the warfighter is also an investment in the community,” said Hal Yoh, Chairman and CEO of Day & Zimmermann. “With the completion of this new production line, we are significantly increasing critical munitions capacity while supporting good-paying, long-term jobs. We are proud of our people in Kansas, and to be a long-term contributor to the U.S. Army’s efforts to strengthen America’s industrial base and deliver for those who serve.”
The ceremony featured remarks from senior Army leadership, Kevin Cruse, Mayor of Parsons, Kansas, and Day & Zimmermann executives, who stressed the importance of the shared commitment from the Army and industry/D&Z to develop a reliable, ready, and resilient munitions supply. This commitment to strengthening domestic production capacity is essential to maintaining readiness and sustaining the warfighter.
This achievement builds on more than 56 years of operations in Parsons, where Day & Zimmermann has supported Army munitions production since March 1970, and reflects a legacy of performance combined with continued modernization underscoring the company’s long-standing role as a trusted partner to the U.S. Army and its commitment to advancing manufacturing capabilities for the future.
The Kansas expansion is part of a broader modernization program across Day & Zimmermann-operated facilities that includes new construction, automation enhancements, and digital quality-control upgrades. These efforts are designed to accelerate throughput while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance. The Kansas facility is privately owned and operated by Day & Zimmermann, in close coordination with the U.S. Army and in accordance with strict federal safety and security requirements.
