PRIDE 2025, Allyship through History

PRIDE Month is annually recognized during the month of June every year. This recognition began as a commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising. As such, initial Pride marches were held in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. However, the origins of Pride celebrations can be traced back even further to the “Reminder Day Pickets” held initially on July 4th from 1965 – 1969 in Philadelphia at Independence Hall. These initial efforts led to the global recognition and celebration of LGBTQ+ rights and history as we know it today.

Pride celebrations have expanded not only across the US in nearly every state, but over 101 countries worldwide. Ranging in size from just under 100 people to parades containing 10s of thousands of participants – these celebrations accent a month dedicated to the recognition of LGBTQ+ advancements, while also serving as a reminder of how much farther society can go to achieve inclusivity and equality.

During PRIDE month, consider how you can be a better ally. This is a time to build better understanding of the challenges that members of the community face while also providing an environment which allows marginalized populations to express challenges and seek solutions in a judgement-free space. At Day & Zimmermann, we firmly believe that all our teammates, customers, and suppliers have a right to be the best version of themselves and that starts with acceptance and inclusivity.
