Jim Merante Joins D&Z as SVP, Finance, Strategy & Corporate Development

It is with great pleasure that we announce that James “Jim” Merante has joined Day & Zimmermann in the newly created role of SVP, Finance, Strategy & Corporate Development, effective Monday April 17. Jim brings his extensive leadership experience in Strategic Business Planning, Financial Planning and Analysis, Accounting and Reporting, Treasury, and M&A experience.  He has both public and private company experience and has executive-level operations management experience. This new role is designed to help D&Z accelerate strategic growth by closely aligning all the corporate finance and strategy functions and will report directly to Kathleen King.

Jim comes to D&Z from American Water where he was most recently Vice President, Treasurer, joining the company in 2014. He was responsible for all Treasury Functions including Financing Plan Development and Execution in support of an approximately $3B annual capital plan, Public Market Capital Raises, Capital Structure / Cost of Capital Management, Cash Flow/Liquidity/Credit Facility Management, Credit Rating Agency and Fixed Income Investor relationships, M&A and other duties. Before that he was Vice President, Internal Audit and CFO of the Mid-Atlantic Division. Prior to American Water he worked for FSM Inc. from 2010 to 2014, and Conversant from 2002 to 2010, both in Harrisburg, PA, where he was responsible for finance and operations. He also worked for KPMG from 1997 to 2002.  

Jim has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Susquehanna University, and is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. He lives in Marlton, New Jersey with his wife and fourteen-year-old daughter. Jim is originally from the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area and enjoys spending time with his family including attending his daughter’s various sporting events.  Jim also enjoys staying active at the gym and enjoys running and will be based out of the 1500 Spring Garden Street Corporate office.
