Day & Zimmermann Names Former Utility Executive John McCormick VP of Fossil

 PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 06, 2017-- Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), the century-old, family-owned provider of construction and engineering, staffing and defense solutions for leading corporations and governments around the world, today named John McCormick the Vice President of Fossil in its Engineering, Construction and Maintenance business unit.  McCormick will take over the position in 2018, replacing current Vice President Paul Williams who will be retiring. In his new role, McCormick will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations on fossil plants for the company’s Day & Zimmermann NPS division. McCormick brings deep industry experience to his new role, having spent the entirety of his career working for utility companies prior to joining D&Z.

McCormick’s career spans more than 35 years and includes executive positions and plant management roles.  He most recently served as Vice President of Safety River Management at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).   Previously, he was the Senior Vice President of Fossil Power Group Operations at TVA.  Prior to joining TVA, McCormick spent 25 years working at Exelon Power where he was the Director of Operations and held general manager positions at multiple generating stations.

McCormick holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Widener University and an Associate Degree in Power Technology from the Williams School. He serves on the board of several non-profit and professional organizations. Currently, he is the President of the Board of Directors for the National Hydropower Association and is a board member for the Greater Chattanooga United Way.
