Day & Zimmermann Labor Relations Leader Reelected President of the Instrument Contracting and Engineering Association

Tom Ensminger, Vice President of Labor Relations for Day & Zimmermann’s (D&Z) Maintenance and Construction division, has been reelected as President of the Instrument Contracting and Engineering Association (ICEA).

ICEA is the contractor association that negotiates and helps administer the “Joint National Industrial Agreement for Instrument and Control Systems Technicians, Revised October 1, 2022” (the I & C Agreement). In this capacity, the ICEA provides the management members of the Arbitration Board and Standing Committee referred to in the I & C Agreement. It also appoints the employer trustees to the Joint Labor/Management Corporation Trust.

“Tom not only brings the leadership qualities that are necessary to run a successful organization, but he also has the field experience which helps him understand what it takes to get a job done,” said Anthony Gallagher, Administrative Assistant to the General President, United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. “The combination of these two assets makes Tom uniquely qualified to chair the ICEA.”

“Tom’s reelection as President of the Instrument Contracting and Engineering Association speaks to his expertise and the confidence industry and labor leaders place in him,” said Jason Dunaway, President of Day & Zimmermann’s Maintenance and Construction division. “ICEA’s work is essential to advancing the I&C Agreement, strengthening labor partnerships, and supporting the development of highly skilled instrument and control technicians, and Tom’s insight and trusted stewardship of labor relations is invaluable to these efforts. We’re proud to recognize Tom’s continued leadership and congratulate him on this achievement.”

As Maintenance and Construction’s Vice President of Labor Relations since 2015, Ensminger has worked at the regional and national level with union managers and building trades leadership to promote labor availability and skills growth. He is deeply engaged with the committees that administer national agreements in Washington, D.C., giving D&Z the knowledge and experience necessary to properly administer agreements at the local level for customers. This depth of knowledge and involvement equips D&Z to consistently execute work with confidence in even the most complex labor environments.

In addition to his role as President of the ICEA, Ensminger holds several other labor relations positions, including the following:
