PHILADELPHIA, PA., May 1, 2025 — Day & Zimmermann's (D&Z) Maintenance and Construction division announces the award of a multi-year, $12.5 million contract with Urenco USA for facilities maintenance. D&Z’s well-established experience in nuclear and commitment to advanced nuclear technologies provide a strong foundation to support Urenco’s crucial uranium enrichment work. Plus, D&Z’s proven workforce development efforts will help to create meaningful long-term careers for the next generation of nuclear workers in Urenco’s homebase of Eunice, New Mexico, and neighboring communities.
“D&Z and Urenco are two values-driven organizations, committed to excellence and nuclear stewardship, and we’re pleased to help them do their best work by keeping Urenco’s mission-critical facilities operating under the highest safety standards and in first-rate condition,” said Ross McConnell, D&Z Chief Nuclear Officer. “Because D&Z is committed to ensuring nuclear bolsters our domestic energy supply and new nuclear technology comes to fruition, we will continue to make investments that grow our maintenance and construction services for customers in the nuclear sector, like Urenco, who are working to achieve our country’s energy goals.”
Urenco USA is the only operating commercial enrichment facility in North America. The company also supplies enrichment services and fuel cycle products for the civil nuclear industry, serving utility customers worldwide. Like D&Z, Urenco is rooted in core values and guided by strong principles, operating within a framework of high environmental, social responsibility, and corporate governance standards. The company promotes nuclear energy as a key driver of the transition to a low-carbon economy, while staying dedicated to safety and investing in community outreach.
“At the heart of D&Z’s work is our commitment to building relationships in the communities we serve and protecting the safety, health, and well-being of our employees,” said James Chesnut, Senior Vice President of Nuclear Operations for D&Z’s Maintenance and Construction division. “By forging strong relationships with Eunice-area schools, organizations, and leaders, we will open pathways to good-paying, long-term careers in the skilled trades and help Urenco attract, develop, and retain the next generation of nuclear workers in its community.”
D&Z’s Maintenance and Construction division helps customers in the power and industrial markets focus on doing their best work better by delivering safe, first-time quality maintenance, construction, engineering, and technical services.
