Celebrating MLK’s Life and Legacy

Today we celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Let it serve as a great opportunity to reflect on the work of Dr. King, but also as a powerful reminder in today’s world of social unrest here in the US and around the world, of the efforts being made to create a more unified and inclusive society.

The annual MLK Holiday is a time to stop, commemorate and honor the life, legacy, and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is also an opportunity to attend events that support and carry on the work of Dr. King and many others that sacrificed to ensure justice and equality. It’s an opportunity for us as individuals to come together to create more unified and inclusive communities.

MLK Day has also become a day of service and reflection like many holidays throughout the year. As a reminder, I hope that you make use of your three annual floating holidays – which can be used for the observance of any day important to you – to serve your community or simply celebrate in other ways. We established our floating holidays specifically for various secular, religious and traditional holidays that are not part of our established holiday schedule.

Please join me in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the continuing need for peace, inclusivity, and understanding in our communities and our world.
