PHILADELPHIA, PA – December 2, 2014 – Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), the century-old, family-owned provider of construction & engineering, staffing and defense solutions for leading corporations and governments around the world, announced today that its Vice President of Government Affairs, James Hickey, has been elected President of the Association of Government Relations Professionals (AGRP). Formerly known as the American League of Lobbyist (ALL), the AGRP is an organization dedicated to enhancing the professionalism, competence and high ethical standards for public policy professionals through education, information exchange and the on-going advocacy of the Constitution’s First Amendment right to petition government.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to take on this new role, and while I have some big shoes to fill, I’m eager to help this important organization continue to grow and reach new heights,” said Hickey.  “In fact, my top priority is to continue to expand AGRP’s reach, making it relevant and accessible to more members and professionals than ever before.  I am looking forward to the many ways that our organization can continue to evolve and partner with different professional organizations and individuals to further our mission.”

In his new role, Hickey will be responsible for overseeing the board, ensuring the AGRP continues to serve as the voice of lobbying compliance, promoting industry ethics, and defending the First Amendment right of the public to “seek redress of grievances” with their government.

“Jim’s years of service within the AGRP, along with his wealth of industry background, give him a unique perspective that will prepare him and the entire organization for success,” said Monte Ward, outgoing President of AGRP. ”It’s exciting to hear his passion and vision for the organization, and I for one, could not be more confident in his ability to drive the AGRP forward to new and exciting opportunities.”

Hickey’s term will begin December 4, 2014 and extend until 2016. Since joining the organization in 2005, Hickey has held several positions, including 1st and 2nd Vice President, Board Member, General Member and one of the point persons for the organization’s recent rebrand from ALL to AGRP.
