Day & Zimmermann Earns Candidate Status with NCCER

PHILADELPHIA, PA – October 4, 2013 – Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), the century-old, family-owned provider of construction and engineering, staffing and defense solutions for leading corporations and governments around the world, is one step closer to accreditation by the NCCER.

NCCER is a highly respected not-for-profit education foundation created by the construction industry to develop standardized curriculum with portable credentials and to help address the skilled construction workforce shortage.

The company earned “candidate” status which enables D&Z to provide workforce training programs with NCCER content, administer assessments to evaluate the knowledge of an individual in a specific craft area, and conduct performance verifications based on skill level and access. To further advance workforce selection, D&Z now has access to NCCER’s online National Registry of craft professionals with industry-recognized credentials.

“This status represents a year-long effort to differentiate our workforce training and development program,” said Michael McMahon, President, Day & Zimmermann Engineering, Construction and Maintenance. “We look forward to earning our accreditation to offer our customers a highly-trained and skilled workforce with credentials from a nationally-recognized, accredited program.”

NCCER is recognized by the industry as the training, assessment, certification and career development standard for the construction and maintenance craft professional. NCCER develops training in 60 craft areas, offers more than 70 assessment exams, and has more than 4,000 training locations. These credentials include transcripts, certificates and wallet cards that are tracked through NCCER’s online National Registry.
