Day & Zimmermann Selected in the Business Roundtable 2017 Sustainability Report

PHILADELPHIA, PA – April 17, 2017 – Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), the century-old, family-owned provider of construction & engineering, staffing and defense solutions for leading corporations and governments around the world, is pleased to announce that the company is one of over 150 businesses nationwide included in the tenth annual Business Roundtable Sustainability Report.

The report, entitled “Create, Grow, Sustain: Delivering Shared Success,” features narratives about how companies have invested significant time and effort into sustainable economic growth and a cleaner environment in the United States as well as overseas. The report includes a letter from Harold L. Yoh, Chairman and CEO of Day & Zimmermann, outlining the company’s commitment to sustainable customer and employee solutions, and the larger goal of being worldwide stewards of the environment.

Corporate social responsibility and sustainability plays a major role at D&Z. The company works with leading utility companies to reduce their impact on their environment and comply with regulatory requirements. D&Z has supported dozens of customers in following the guidelines of the Clean Air Act by converting coal-fired industrial boilers to cleaner burning natural gas.

The letter also describes sustainability efforts within multiple company business units. D&Z’s Mason & Hanger is working to improve the efficiency of buildings and increase both sustainability and resiliencythrough creative design, advanced simulation and robust commissioning. This practice has eliminated over 300 million kilowatt-hours in energy expenditure resulting in a reduction of 230,000 metric tons of greenhouse-gas emissions. D&Z also supports green-building rating systems and currently has over 40 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified projects.

Across all business units and locations, there are regular conversations for implementing alternative green tactics. Protecting the environment is one of the most important ways D&Z can help make a difference in their communities and improve the business landscape for future generations.
