Day & Zimmermann Participates in the Business Roundtable 2014 Sustainability Report

PHILADELPHIA, PA – May 5, 2014 - Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), the century-old, family-owned provider of construction and engineering, staffing and defense solutions for leading corporations and governments around the world, is pleased to announce that the company is one of 150 businesses nationwide selected to participate in the Business Roundtable 2014 Sustainability Report.

Entitled “Create, Grow, Sustain: Celebrating Success,” the report features data and best practices from chief executive officers on how the top U.S. companies are demonstrating success in their sustainability efforts while driving investment, economic growth and job creation. The report includes a letter from Harold L. Yoh, Chairman and CEO of D&Z, outlining the company’s commitment to creating a more sustainable environment by helping customers meet their environmental goals.

From designing and building Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified structures for federal projects, to embedding environmental performance criteria into supplier selection and evaluation of global procurement of materials, goods and services, D&Z has implemented environmental management practices at every level of the global business.

The letter also outlines examples from several of the company business units. D&Z’s Engineering, Construction and Maintenance (ECM) business unit works with major nuclear and power utilities to reduce their impact on the environment and comply with regulatory requirements through facility retrofits, refurbishment and modification that reduces emissions and greenhouse gases. The company Munitions division has expanded technology to use digital x-ray capabilities to reduce dependency on film and chemicals, and is continuing to convert vehicle fleets at plants to smaller, more energy-efficient models.
