Joseph J. Ucciferro of Day & Zimmermann Appointed Chairman of National Safety Council’s Board of Directors
Philadelphia, Pa.—October 15, 2007— Day & Zimmermann, a nationally recognized provider of products and outsourcing solutions for government and commercial customers, today announced that Joseph J. Ucciferro, president and CEO of the company’s Commercial and Public Sector Businesses, has been named chairman of the board of directors for the National Safety Council. During his 13 year tenure with the company, Ucciferro has been responsible for leading the overall safety program for all facets of the over 25,000 person organization.
The National Safety Council is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, public service organization whose mission is to “educate and influence people to prevent accidental injury and death.” As chairman of the board, Ucciferro will concentrate on growing the organization in order to broaden its scope of influence and allow it to tackle the largest and most critical safety issues, such as the sharp rise in the home and community death rate due the unintentional injuries. He will also work to expand the council’s international presence and increase fundraising to support additional advocacy efforts. “My goal as chairman of the board is to decrease death rates due to unintentional injuries in America,” said Ucciferro.
