Day & Zimmermann Adds Fabrication and Machining to its Capabilities with Acquisition
The company has completed the acquisition of a fabrication facility in Mississippi
Philadelphia, Pa.—August 12, 2008—Day & Zimmermann, a nationally recognized provider of diversified services and outsourcing solutions for government and commercial customers, today announced its maintenance and modification unit has completed the acquisition of a fabrication and machining facility in Moss Point, Miss. from Industrial Maintenance and Machine, Inc. The facility will be operated by DZ Atlantic, a wholly owned subsidiary of Day & Zimmermann.
The acquisition complements an already extensive portfolio of services that Day & Zimmermann currently offers its customers. "Having a fabrication facility will allow us to meet the needs of our existing customers and further develop customer relationships in other targeted industries," said Mike McMahon, president of Day & Zimmermann's maintenance and modification operation. "This acquisition furthers our goal of providing comprehensive solutions for our customers."
The facility consists of a 180,000 square foot shop situated on 20 acres of land, and will give DZ Atlantic a significant range of capabilities including machining, mobile machining, structural steel production, piping, skids and specialty welding.
Day & Zimmermann plans to make substantial capital improvements to the buildings and equipment in the next several months, and expects to dramatically increase the workforce from 35 employees to 300 in the next two years. "This facility is a perfect fit for the type of capabilities we were looking to gain. It's also in an ideal location in relation to our target industries and we expect the area to see a major surge of construction activity in the next 5 to 10 years," explained McMahon.
The newly acquired facility will be managed locally by John Green, who will report to Keith Hollingsworth, president of maintenance and modification for DZ Atlantic.
